Madikeri is located in the midst of the majestic Rain forest, Table Mountains and stunningly gorgeous gushing waterfalls inside the bio diverse zone of UNESCO World Heritage Site- Western Ghats, which is truly a sight to behold making it one of the best places for a family holiday. There are 4 beautiful waterfalls exist in this enchanting Hill Town, which every traveler must explore during their vacation. They form magical sights during monsoons from June to September. Here are 4 Spectacular Waterfalls in Madikeri.
(1) Abbey Falls
Abbey Falls is situated around 8 kms from Madikeri Town. Abbey Falls is part of the River Cauvery. The watercourse coming from the bluff from a stature of 70 feet gives an amazing scene to see. The small pathway from the car parking spot to the fall is flanked by coffee plantations from either side. A hanging bridge has been built across the falls to offer an unimpeded view to the visitors. Settled inside the rich greenery of Western Ghats, the waterfall attracts hundreds and thousands of people throughout the year, especially nature lovers. The waterfall is situated between private coffee plantation with stocky coffee shrubberies and spices homes with trees laced with pepper vines.
How to reach: Abbey Falls is almost 7 km from Madikeri town. One can take a bus or hire a taxi to reach the end of the road, and then a 5-minute walk downhill will take your to the falls.

(2) Nilakandi Falls
Nilakandi Falls which is popularly known as Honey Valley is a beautiful waterfall, located amidst the dense tropical forests. The Nilakandi Falls are located the midst of the dense tropical forests of Coorg and trace their source somewhere in the Tadiandamol range. It is a picturesque and serene waterfall that lends trekkers a wonderful waterfall experience. Cascading down from a height of about 50 feet, it is a picturesque and serene waterfall that lends trekkers a wonderful waterfall shower experience. Honey Valley is a private resort in which this beautiful waterfall is located. The view is that of a white and milky waterfall in the middle of dense vegetation makes it worth travelling destination in Madikeri.
How to reach: Nilakandi Falls located near Kabbinkadu Village in Madikeri Taluka of Kodagu District of Karnataka State. Nearest Bus Stop is situated at Kabbinkadu Village which is 4 kms from this Waterfalls.

(3) Kote Abbe / Kote Abbi Waterfalls
At a distance of 25 km from Madikeri Town, Kote Abbe Falls is a stunning waterfall situated at Mukkodlu Village in Madikeri Taluka of Kodagu District of Karnataka State. The waterfall is really a wonderful site as the water gushes from the rocks amidst the green environs. The water is absolutely pristine clean and clear. Sparkling water, flat rock bed surface nestling in the Western Ghats. Kote Abbi is the least crowded of all the waterfalls in and around Madikeri. The place isn’t commercialized yet and is still serene so one can experience some scene of tranquility with just the gushing sound of the falls and the chirping of birds to break the silence. No charges to visit this place and hence it is a true hidden gem.
How to reach: Kote Abbe Waterfall is seasonal and it offers wonderful views in the rainy season. The tourists are advised not to get into the water during the monsoon. There is no bus service from Madikeri to the reach this waterfalls. So visitors can rent a jeep as it is a bumpy rough ride.

(4) Chingara Waterfalls
Chingara Waterfalls is located inside a private property called Chingara estate, regular public is not allowed to the waterfall. However tourists residing at Chingara estate and Honey Valley estate are free to explore this waterfall. One can either trek to the waterfall from either of these properties or opt for a four-wheel drive jeep to take them to the waterfall. The trek is very scenic and much recommended. Chingara Falls is a delight for nature lovers and trekkers. Chingara Falls appears alike pristine gushing milky water makes it increasingly popular among tourists. There is no sight more enchanting than seeing a waterfall flowing in all its might between the lush greenery of its surroundings. Situated between coffee estates and tropical forests, it is a perfect place to relax and opportunity to wash all the tiredness away by taking a swim in the cold and refreshing water. Best time to visit this waterfall is from October to February.
How to reach: One can either trek to this waterfall from either of these properties or opt for a four wheel drive jeep to take them to the waterfall. The trek is very scenic and much recommended. One can take a local bus that connects Madikeri via Napoklu and get down at Kabinnakad bus stop. The nearest railway station is Hunsur, which is connected with Mysore and Bengaluru railway stations.
