Nandanvan Zoo Safari is the largest artificial safari of Asia located at sector-39 Raipur, spread in 800 acres of area. It located exactly 35 km away from the railway station and 15km from the Swami Vivekanand Airport.
The flora and fauna of the beautiful landscape enchants the visitors creating a natural habitat for the animals. There are near about 32 species of animal and several indigenous plants exhibited in the zoo.
The jungle safari is distributed in 4 parts i.e. Lion Safari, Tiger Safari, Bear Safari and Herbivore Safari. It has 130 Acre of water body named ‘Khandwa Reservoir’ which attracts many migratory bird species and the boating rides are conducted too.
Nandanvan Zoo and Safari is a dream project of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh to create a world class Zoo and Safari. The idea behind this project was to create a haven for the endangered species and develop the landscape as a conservation, recreational and educational site.
The zoo was primarily established in 1979 as “Nandanvan Mini Zoo”, but gradually after creation of Chhattisgarh State in the year 2000 the state government decided to renovate the Zoo as a Jungle Safari.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nandanvan Zoo and Safari in 2016 November, to promote tourism in Chhattisgarh along with Chief Minister Raman Singh on the occasion of state’s 16th foundation day celebrations.
Zoo Timings : 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM; Closed on Mondays
Entry Fee : INR 100 for adults and INR 50 for children
